Define the job before comparing the machine
The P1S is commonly considered for an enclosed desktop printing workflow. Start with the largest representative part you actually need and the materials specified for that part. Put its bounding dimensions, orientation, quantity and visible faces on one sheet. Compare that sheet with the current manufacturer configuration and the seller’s written offer.

Plan the whole installation
Check space for the printer, door opening, maintenance access, filament storage and any additional feeding equipment. Include the route for removing a completed print. A machine that fits on a shelf may still be awkward to load or service there.
Ask how the proposed installation addresses the manufacturer’s operating and ventilation instructions for your chosen material. An enclosure is not evidence that every material is suitable or that workplace requirements have been met.
Evaluate the actual colour workflow
If considering an automatic material system, confirm the exact generation, compatibility, included accessories and filament restrictions in the offer. Compare a representative sliced job: colour changes, waste, elapsed time and clean-up matter alongside the number of available colours.
For example, a small logo repeated on twenty parts may have a different production plan from one large multicolour display. Ask for the assumptions behind any time estimate rather than applying a headline movement speed to the whole job.
Check ongoing ownership
- Which wear parts and replacement assemblies can your supplier support?
- What routine maintenance does the current manual require?
- How are files transferred under your organisation’s network policy?
- Who can diagnose a failed job and restore a known configuration?
- What warranty and service terms apply to your delivery location?
Record these answers separately from accessory features. A reliable handover includes a maintenance owner, spare-parts route and a saved setup for the intended material.
Use a decision sample
Request a trial containing a visible face, a support-contact surface and a dimensional interface that matters to your work. Agree how each will be assessed. Compare the sample with the file revision and preparation used to produce it; do not infer general accuracy from a photograph.
